Antique Niderviller Porcelain Gentleman Gardener Figurine Figure Porzellan Figur

Description: For sale is a figurine of a gentleman doing some gardening made by Niderviller around 1800 . I have not seen a figure by them in this style - reminds me more of Ludwigsburg figurines. The man is dressed nicely and leaning on an urn that is standing on top of the railing. Nice base with a bit of scroll work to the front highlighted with gilding. I am pretty sure he was holding a spade originally as there is a bit of residue in his upper hand and a touch along the side of the lower hand with the spade broken off perfectly on the base. The figure is nicely modeled and hand painted. The piece is made of a solid piece of porcelain instead of pieces by other makers that have air holes in them. A typical feature for this maker! The figurine is displays nicely with the missing spade already mentioned and the handles of the urn are missing as well. Slight chip to the bottom edge of the base on the left side that is not obvious at all. All in all it displays very nicely! As is the case with most of their figurines he is unmarked. The figurine is 4.75 inches tall, 3 inches wide and 1.625 inches deep. I also have the female counter part on the site as well if anyone is interested in a pair.
