Description: Antique Mercantile Hanging String Holder, Twine Holder, Cone String Holder Amazing find, this is one of the most scarce / rare string holders we know of. This cast iron string holder is designed to be mounted or hung from the ceiling. The store clerk or butcher would reach up and pull string rod downward to cut off desired amount of string, then let go of the rod and rod and string would rise upwards out of the way of the clerk. This was found in a very small town in southern Wyoming. Collectors Weekly showcased this style string holder in 2011, it is the only other one we know of. Circa, 1850+ Measures, 18½” height, 7” depth, string rod with counterbalance 24” long. Condition, as shown. Please see all photos as they are part of the description.
