Description: Antique leaf-shaped American majolica plate with the Griffin Smith Hill "Etruscan Majolica" mark on the back, which dates it to about 1880. The iconic design is a multicolored leaf, dark green in the center with yellow and pink coloring towards the edges and a brown twig handle. This plate measures 12" long and 9" wide, and is in very good condition by antique majolica standards. There is one small nick on the back of a leaf corner (see last closeup photo) and there is typical crazing throughout. The coloration has some mottling or bleeding, and there are some skipped glazed areas on the back. The front is stunning! This is part of a lovely collection of antique majolica that I recently acquired and are listed separately.
