Description: Antique William Rogers & Son Large Silver Serving Spoon Stamped WM Rogers & Son AA Late 1800's tipped pattern spoon engraved with a capital cursive F. William Rogers formed a new partnership in Hartford, CT of William Rogers Sr. and his son William Henry Rogers, lasting from 1869 until William Sr. death in 1873 which helps date this piece to that time frame that the stamp was used. A wide range of symbols were used by U.S. manufacturers to designate silver plating and solid lower-grade alloys in the marketplace. A1 and AA: These discreet markings indicate the number of ounces of pure silver used in the plating. There's two ounces per gross of teaspoons for A1, and three ounces for AA. This one is AA. Sold as in not polished up, there is some fading of the stamp but other than that the spoon is in pretty good shape structurally. 8" length x 1.75" at widest 31.2 grams
