Description: This is a rare, antique, African, hand carved, wood drum featuring carved geometrical designs around the top and an ancestral face representing the spirit of the drum with braided beard which ends in a carved hand which is also the handle of the drum and which has a stretched and nailed leather hide head which was used for ceremony among the Kuba People of the Congo, Africa. This amazing Kuba drum specimen measures 25 inches tall by 9 1/2 inches wide and has a circumference of 25.50 inches around the head of the drum and a circumference of 24 inches around the base of the drum. This Kuba ceremony drum weighs 7 pounds. This museum quality Kuba drum specimen is in great antique tribally made and used condition with a lot of wear to the base of the drum and has a slight lean to it when standing on a completely flat surface. The top of the leather hide head of the drum is in perfect condition but this drum is not for playing and is a collectible specimen. This antique Kuba wooden ceremonial drum would be a perfect addition to any African art collection.
