Description: This is an antique Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada or Toyokuno III. It has been in my possession for 30 years, part of my late husband's collection of Asian arts. It was purchased from an established gallery, the Shogun Gallery in Washington, and the gallery label is mounted on the back. This is titled Actors Ichikawa Danjûrô VIII as Mukôkizu no Yosa and Nakamura Tsuruzô I as Kômori Yasu, and it dates to 1853. The print shows the two figures in vivid colors, particularly the deep blues of the clothing. It measures about 14 by 10" and it has been framed in a 1" wide black frame with a narrow red stripe and matted with a coral red mat. The framed dimensions are about 19 by 15." The frame has some dings around the edges, as shown in the last few photos. The image is protected by glass. This is in excellent condition. It weighs about 3 pounds and I will ship it in a box with adequate protection. Please write in with any questions - thank you!
