Description: Here is a beautiful multi-design antique bed-size woven coverlet approximately 76 x 68 inches (see photos). Two of the corner blocks show “J & S Slaybaugh – Bucyrus – Crawford County – Ohio – 1845.” The last two photos show the coverlet folded back to let you see the condition of the backside. This fine antique coverlet is in GOOD CONDITION for its age. The colors have held (see photos) and none of the edges are frayed or show much wear. From what little I know, Josiah and Samuel Slaybaugh were in business together in Bucyrus, Ohio (Crawford County) during the late 1840s and eventually also sold their wares in Kosciusko County, Indiana. This coverlet was passed down by my in-laws who lived near Warsaw, Indiana. I think it is likely that it was passed to my father-in-law by his mother, who got it from her mother. His family tree goes back several generations in the Kosciusko County area. Prices for similar items online vary considerably, with some going for $500 or more. Because of this coverlet’s quality of craftsmanship and overall good condition, I am confident that whoever buys this will be quite satisfied when they receive it in the mail.
