Description: Antique Islamic metalwork tray ( large plate ). Likely Syria, dated 1838. This is a PRETTY and ANTIQUE Islamic Art ( metalwork ), depicting a large food tray, serving tray ( plate ). ALL hand chiseled, on copper, with 4 wrought iron handles ( can be used as wall decoration ). Nicely decorated with repeated floral motifs and geometric shapes ( arabesque ) in the center, and on the border, in highlights with black compound ( Niello ). Signed by the artist “ Aly Abou Heidar “ and dated 1254 Hijri ( Islamic calendar ), which is 1838-1839. ( see last photo ) in Arabic language. Silver on copper.
