Description: From the office of a boat builder in Fair Haven, NJ back in the 1950's is this hand-built half model of a gaff rig schooner in dimension. It measures 12" wide and 9.5" tall and has the original eye hook on top. The board is a tiger oak plank painted flat black; the sails are in a lighter wood...perhaps poplar...with the hull in mahogany? The waterline appears to be a very thin slice of the lighter wood and there is a small carving on the bow. Its' dimensions indicate the builder knew his craft. This gem has been in my possession for decades when I bought it in 1960. As I clean-house, I'll be listing more Jersey Coast items. I believe this is a one-of-a- kind treasure!
