Description: This listing is for an antique German bisque doll recently purchased from a local doll auction. She was made by Heinrich Handwerck in the early 1900s for the French Market. She has a socket style bisque head with brown glass eyes. Her upper and lower eyelashes are painted and she has molded brown multi-stroke eyebrows. Her lips are light pink and she has tiny upper teeth. There are red accent dots in her nostrils and in the corner of the eyes and she has rosy pink cheeks. Her ears are pierced and she comes with her original brown human hair wig. She is marked "79 5 U Germany Handwerck" on the back of her neck. Her body is marked "Heinrich Handwerck Germany 0" and she stands 14 1/2" tall. She is dressed in a period dress made of stiff cotton with a faded print. It is trimmed with lace and has tiny pockets on the front. Under her dress, she has a one piece pantaloon jumper with lace trim, a white cotton petticoat, knit socks and blue oilcloth shoes. The pierced earrings are tiny faux pearl drops. Condition: Her bisque head is in good condition with no cracks or repairs but there is some damage to the eyelids and one of her eyes is sticking. There is wear around the upper edge of the head from glue residue and tape from the wig. There is some wear on the body with missing composition around the neck and joints. Her hands are faded and cracked. Her dress and pantaloons are too big for her and the petticoat is too small so her clothes, while old, are not original to the doll. Her dress is very faded---the print is nearly gone. There is staining and wear on all the clothing. Please note: The antique books and doll stand are not included in the listing and are for display purposes only. Be sure to check my listings for more antique and collectible dolls and toys.
