Description: This is a wonderful rare Georgian Welsh oak spoon rack and candle box which dates to circa 1800. Two tier rack with holes for twelve spoons over a candle box base with hinged lid. The beautiful decorative shaped edge to the backboard sets it off superbly. To the top there are old holes to attach a hanging loop although a glass plate has been added at some point to allow it to be hung. The lid is hinged into the sides of the rack. It has the most superb colour and patina which can only be gained through age.This would have hung on the wall for candles and spoons and this stunning box could still be used for candles and spoons but equally it could have many modern day practical uses, such as a safe place for keys to be kept, whilst adding an air of antique charm to your home. The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are:- 13 1/2 inches (34 cm) wide x 6 1/4 inches (16 cm) deep x 23 inches (58.5 cm) high. CONDITION: As can be seen from the photographs the condition of the box is in superb used condition especially considering it is over 220 years old. It does have knocks and marks you would expect from a piece of this age and as can be seen in the photographs.
