Description: Antique French Plates, K et G (Keller et Guérin), Lunéville, Pears and Grapes, 3 pcs , ca 1890-1920 These antique French plates are beautifully designed with stenciled fruit motifs in blue - one plate has an image of pears, the other two have bunches of grapes and grapevine leaves, all feature a basketweave border in low relief. Each plate is stamped on the back with inscription “K et G Lunéville. France” - the markings identify the plates as belonging to the period 1890-1920. Each piece also bears an embossed mark and a stamped number ("20" on two plates and "24" on the other). The Lunéville faience factories, founded in the 18th century, were further developed in the 19th century by Keller who later joined with Guérin, their two initials forming the mark “KG”. This celebrated pottery manufacturer in the Lorraine region of France produced many wonderful pieces during its existence and was so successful that Keller and Guérin opened a store in New York during the “Belle Epoque” period of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These plates are in good condition, with the exception of tiny chips on the glazed surface, yellowing from age, and a hairline crack on two of the plates.
