It is made from solid oak and has mortise and tenon joints between the two pieces of wood with no nails used.Jesus and the INRI plaque are both metal with an off white enamel. They are not flat, they both are very thick.They are both attached with machine thread screws, not nailed on. There are some rubs and chips in the enamel, you may want to touch them up. The front of the wood is excellent and it is the original finish. The back has some marks from being on the wall for 100 years. It has a good solid hanger which is also screwed onto the wood. As long as you hang this with a good solid nail, it will never fall off the wall. Beautiful piece and better quality than anything made today.
