Made of Earthenware in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, UK. Pattern: Cairo Description: Oriental, Camel Scene, Swallows Victorian Era, Great colour that has survived the test of time. In 1833 William Taylor Copeland and Thomas Garrett formed a partnership to continue the business of the famous Josiah Spode in Stoke on Trent in England. William T Copeland retired 1867 and his four sons William, Edward, Alfred and Richard took over the business which then traded as W.T. Copeland & Sons Ltd. The business remained in the Copeland Family until 1966 when Copeland family sold the business which was acquired by the Carborundum Co. Ltd. The business continued to trade as W.T. Copeland & Sons Ltd. until 1970 when the new owners reverted to the original Spode name.
