Description: For sale is a antique Collins Legitimus axe head, weighing 3lbs.4.6 ounces. Signed "Collins Legitimus", with the faint remnants of the famous Legitimus crown and hammer seal, it measures 6-15/16" long with a 4-7/16" wide edge, a 1-3/8" wide X 3-1/16" poll, or end, and a 7/8" X 2-3/8" eye. The edge is good, with some very light chipping, as pictured, and will respond well to honing and sharpening by a experienced hand. The poll shows some use and wear, as pictured. There is some pitting, especially on the back side, as pictured. There are no personal inscriptions from previous owners. This is a nice overall example, with a rough and rugged patina, from a world renowned maker.
