Description: Item DetailsAntique French Bronze Mantel Clock, Circa 1900 Offers Welcome A fine example of a French Victorian bronze mantel clock dating to circa 1900. The clock, completed in the Neo Gothic manner and of architectural form, demonstrates the finest quality of craftsmanship. The front elevation of the clock comprises of a white enamel dial featuring black hand painted Arabic numerals with outer chapter indicating minute and five minute markers. The dial is protected by a thick bevelled glass door encased within an ormolu bezel. The cathedral domed top surmounted by a finial. The whole, with exquisite chiselled decoration, flanked by two lion faces and raised on scrolled feet. The eight day twin train mechanical movement striking the hours and half on a gong comes complete with its winding key and pendulum. The movement is protected by a pierced door allowing the user hear the strike of the gong easily. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a very good colour. Please note, there are some signs of age and usage.
