Description: ANTIQUE CIVIL WAR M1861 SOCKET BAYONET M1835/42 US ARMY. I believe it is either an M1861 or an M1835/42. 18" blade, 2 5/8" socket length, approx 1 7/16" to 1 1/2" shank. A nickel (coin) does not quite fit inside the barrel. Tip a bit bent, metal pitting and some surface oxidation. A nice find.
