Description: PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE LISTING TEXT AND CAREFULLY REVIEW ALL 10 PHOTOS. This is a listing for a Swiss made pocket watch made for the Chinese market in the 1800's. It is currently NOT IN WORKING ORDER, as the hand setting arbor shaft is missing (broke off during my testing). The key wind movement will still wind, but, the running parts will no longer work. I bought it in 1990 in good running condition, but, when I retested it, it ran for a while and then the hand setting arbor broke when I tried to adjust the time. I am including the 2 keys: # 4 for hand setting and the #5 key for winding the movement, both keys are new modern keys. Since the watch was in good running condition when I bought it, I believe it is worth restoring. The dial is very unique in that it features 2 sets of Roman Numerals of 12 hours each and not just 24 hours, but I-XII, twice-see photos. I have never seen this type of dial in my over 40 years of watch collecting! My latest research indicates that the dial is a Chinese ZODIAC with Roman numeral numbers for DAY AND NIGHT. The dial alone is extremely rare and valuable and is in excellent condition! The watch has no maker's identification and the watch case looks like it is silver plated which is mostly worn away now. I do not know the jewel count of the movement, maybe none? The movement has a clear plastic cover, with 2 holes for the key winding and setting. The watch crystal is in excellent condition. The watch case is in very good condition and it opens and closes as it should-see photos. The watch case is approx. 55.9mm in diameter. The watch includes its original Chinese export ( I believe) wax seal-see photo The watch is sold as "AS IS" AND NONRETURNABLE, so please email me any questions before you buy it. This watch could be restored to working order or just left as is for a beautiful display watch, especially, with that very unusual dial! Also, look for the carved wood Asian pocket watch holder that I have already listed as a separate item-it is the very holder that I used to display this watch for over 30 years!
