Description: Nice Original Antique Ruby Ambrotype Photo in Nice Gutta Percha Case, Taken c.1850-1860, Civil War Period DESCRIPTION: Nice early antique ruby ambrotype image taken during the heyday of popular early photography, c1850 - 1860. I apologize for the reflected light/camera in my scans, obviously not part of the actual photo itself, which is quite clear. This has great mid-1800's New England period subject matter. Hair up, a nice seated antebellum pose, and appearance. She also is wearing a fancy print dress with low neckline, and fancy LONG earrings and LARGE cameo brooch, etc. Set in a nice 1/9 plate brass mat, and in a full, complete gutta percha, hard rubber case. Nice geometric design and is in an overall excellent condition. NICE THAT IT IS STILL IN THE SAME CASE THAT IT HAS BEEN IN FOR 170+ YEARS!!! Image has a few spots on it, but I am not sure if they are on the glass image or cover glass.
