Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ANTIQUE CAMBRIDGE GLASS # 1035 INTAGLIO PATTERN CRYSTAL TOOTHPICK HOLDER EAPGA beautiful piece of early American made pattern glass in the form of a lovely little decagon shaped toothpick holder. This piece was made by the Cambridge Glass Company, formerly of Cambridge, Ohio. The pattern is known as “Intaglio” and is Cambridge’s # 1035 pattern. This is a very neat piece. First, it was made as a piece of pressed glass with a floral pattern in relief molded into the piece, then the exterior of the piece was frosted (etched to a satin finish with acid), then the entire exterior of the piece was cut, faceted and polished to leave the frosted floral pattern in relief for a beautiful effect. A true piece of art glass and it is amazing to me how much labor was put into such a small piece. It is a very high-quality piece of hand- made pressed crystal or clear colored glass as you would expect from this company. This piece has been part of my personal toothpick holder collection since 1999. Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” & “Approximate Dimensions” paragraphs below. Also, please read about our multiple purchase discount under the “PAYMENT, SHIPPING, Insurance & PACKAGING” paragraph below. This toothpick pattern is pictured in the 2005 book Glass Toothpick Holders: Second Edition by Neila & Tom Bredehoft and Jo & Bob Sanford on page 34. While this exact piece is not pictured in the 1970 book The Cambridge Glass Co. Cambridge, Ohio: A Reprint Of Parts Of Old Company Catalogs Book I by Mary, Lyle and Lynn Welker, there are other pieces made in this exact same shape, pattern, style number, and manner shown on page 110. This is a very nice example of this beautiful little toothpick holder! If you are not familiar with the NTHCS (National Toothpick Holder Collectors’ Society) it is a great organization and you can learn more about toothpick holders and collecting them at their website.I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables.Age and ConditionThis piece dates to circa 1910. It is in very good to excellent condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There is one tiny flea bite to one of the points on the exterior of the top rim. There is one small shallow flake to one of the edges at the base of the piece. To me, this is all very minor and really just something I expect to see on a 110+ year old piece of glass. Otherwise, there are no other chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.Approximate DimensionsAbout 1.5” (3.8 cm) across and sits about 2.25” (5.7 cm) off the table. Approximate WeightAbout 3.5 ounces (98 grams).
