Description: This is a heavy clay spaniel often referred to as a Bennington Rockingham glazed spaniel. The spaniel is seated, and the figure is approximately 10 1/2" tall. The base measures 7 3/4" x 6 1/4". There is an old, darkened chip located at the bottom right, another smaller one at the bottom on the back, and another tiny one just below the dog's left ear. When photographing I noticed another so old it almost looks like wear. That one is on the left side of the dog’s snout. These Bennington type spaniels, with their heavy weight, make great doorstops, in fact that is how this one was being used when we found him, right exactly where he sat for generations! That likely accounts for his injuries.
