Description: View more great items This is a lovely antique American cake stand, fruit bowl, brides basket, compote or card receiving tray. It has a hand with a rope with tassel ends holding up the bowl which is beautifully engraved inside (see photos). The handle has a flower and butterfly on the top. It is marked as made by Wilcox Silverplate Co. # 861. It is quite a largish piece. It stands about 13 inches high with handle raised, about 7 1/2 inches to top of basket from the bottom. The diameter of the bowl is about 8 1/2 inches. The wing-nut underneath unscrews so the bowl can be detached. This makes for easy cleaning and polishing. The condition of this figural is excellent. There is no damage, there are no repairs, no missing or broken bits, and no pitting. The silverplate is also in excellent condition. It may even have been replated since it is in such good condition. When taking the photos I did not cleaned it so there are some finger marks and there is some dust here and there. It is in great condition. This an absolutely fascinating and gorgeous piece.
