Successors to C.A. Dickinson, succeeded by C.H. Ankeny (c.1870). They were jewelers, watchmakers, opticians and retail silversmiths. Ankeny was primarily a retailer after relocating to Lafayette, Indiana. No makers marks - guaranteed made by G. Sharp for the retailer, common practice for mid 19th century American silver trade.Guaranteed solid coin silver - 900/1000 standard, slightly lower than sterling. Handle applied with realistically cast bull head.Superb quality crisp details. Engraved on the back of handle: "Janny, 1869" . SIZE:Silver server is about 8 5/8 in. long.
