Magnificent quality very rare example of American Aesthetic Movement Art silver. Truly collectors grade rare example. Coin silver large serving spoon / berry server made by one of the finest 19th American silversmith George Sharp. Famous "Bull" pattern.Philadelphia, circa 1860's. Marked on the back of handle with retailers mark for Seib & Ankeny. Seib & Ankeny​Richmond, Indiana 1868-1875​In the 1860s, Theodore W. Seib and Charles H. Ankeny were active in Richmond, Indiana. Successors to C.A. Dickinson, succeeded by C.H. Ankeny (c.1870). They were jewelers, watchmakers, opticians and retail silversmiths. Ankeny was primarily a retailer after relocating to Lafayette, Indiana. No makers marks - guaranteed made by G. Sharp for the retailer, common practice for mid 19th century American silver trade.Guaranteed solid coin silver - 900/1000 standard, slightly lower than sterling. Handle applied with realistically cast bull head.Superb quality crisp details. Engraved on the back of handle: "Janny, 1869" . SIZE:Silver server is about 8 5/8 in. long. WEIGHT:Silver weight is about 2.9 troy oz. (90.9 gr) - good weight for the size. Very good original antique condition with minor normal indication of age.
