Description: For sale is an Antique 19th Century hand Painted Tin toleware box with original hand painted design. Tole ware began to be made just after the American Revolution and continued throughout the 1800's. Decorating and lacquering these tin containers made them at once beautiful and resistant to corrosion. Painting tole ware became popular with the Pennsylvania Dutch as well as others when plain tin wares from New England were sold to more southerly locations. This item has maintained most of its paint. There are paint losses as is the case with many tole ware. Please check the pictures in detail. Smaller at about 4" x 3.5" x 3.5" Feel free to check out my other antique and collectible listings. I gladly combine shipping whenever practical.
