Description: This offering is for an antique early 19th century American Hollow Cut Silhouette of a Young Gentleman. The silhouette is quite rare having a hollow cut head above a block printed body. There are pencil drawn details for the hair as well as for the details and buttons on his shirt. I believe there are only a little more than a dozen examples of silhouettes with block printed bodies known to exist and this is a fine example. There is some light toning to the paper on the lower left hand side otherwise the condition is great. The silhouette itself measures app. 2.5" by 3.5" and the frame measures app. 4" by 5.5" The very nice block corner frame is not original to the silhouette and is probably a bit later. Please note in the view we provide of the back of the frame there is a CDV behind the silhouette used only for backing. The printed photographers marking is on the CDV not the silhouette. The buyer will pay a fixed amount of $ 10.00 for Standard Mail and we will include delivery confirmation, tracking, at no additional cost.
