Description: Antique 18thc Caricature of a Dancing Lesson. Comical drawing features the stout man attempting to dance to the thin man's pochette. A pochette was a small violin used primarily by dancing masters in the 18th and early 19th centuries. Signed CLS, published Nov. 2, 1779. Comes matted and ready for framing. A bit of paper loss at top - see last photo. Otherwise excellent condition. 9" x 12" unmatted, 12" x 15" with mat. From my late father's extensive collection of musicians & music-related items.
