Description: ATH#220277.03ANTIQUE HOPI POTTERY EXCELLENT CONDITION This pot is similar to others that I have that have been documented to be from either the 1700s or the 1800s - I am not expert enough (not at all really) to discern the difference between those two centuries. This pot is just under 7" tall - perhaps 6 3/4" The top rim is 3 3/4" wide It seems to be about 6 1/4" wide in the middle The base is 3 1/4" weighs 2 pounds 4 ounces (a little heavy for its size) (JUST AS AN ASIDE: I have been collecting Native American pottery for so very, very long now (I'm an old, old Arizona cowboy), and along the way I picked up this antique pot. When I got it home I noticed the sheet of paper on the inside - take a look at the last photo. I have never put any stock in this - I've researched the Romona Play that is put on annually since 1934 over in Hemet California (can't say I've ever been there . . .) - and I can't find that the subject of the play ever made any pottery. I think the story is made up - and therefore the memo is made up - but the memo itself is quite old. I bought this to help preserve the artwork and life of native inhabitants many decades ago.
