Description: A beautiful 1880's Dragon & Winged Serpent Motif Bookend. Folds flat for storage. The chimeric dragon and winged serpents designs were a very popular motif during the Victorian Era. Based on similar examples it's of French, English, early American origin. The only markings on the piece is the number "8" on the bottom, probably a design or date code. This piece was probably part of a set that would have been an executive's desk accessories, and it matches other similar dragon motif desk pieces of that period.
