A collection of one ancient Thai pottery vessels from the neolithic culture named after the famous Ban Chiang archeological site. This pottery was made by hand using a paddle and anvil to shape the profile and then incising the cord-marked design, utilizing fibrous materials such as rope, or incised with a stylus, likely made of wood. Ban Chiang is considered by UNESCO to be the most important prehistoric settlement so far found in Southeast Asia with a vibrant pottery tradition. Size of vessel with flared rim: 5" L x 4" H (12.7 cm x 10.2 cm) Condition: Chips and small losses to rims. Surface wear commensurate with age and exposure on all.
