Description: Anchor Hocking Opalescent "Moonstone" 4-Piece Set Dessert/B&B Plates, 6 3/8" Diam The limited and simple number of different production items in the line lent the "small" plates to become both "dessert" or "bread & butter" plates. Dinner / Salad plates were 8 1/2" On the heels of the Great Depression during WWII, Anchor Hocking produced Moonstone from 1942 thru 1946, a very short run of five years. A beautiful, fun, inexpensive, simplistic in number of items, yet durable tableware that they turned out by the "seemingly millions" :-). Homemakers needed a little fun during the war, and glass was not affected by wartime shortages. :-) The creamy white opalescence is on the hobnails & edges only, not drifting down from the top. This technique, along with the limited items, allowed Anchor to produce via factory-line selling at a fraction of the competition, producing hand-blown art glass. It was all a relatively short run anyway as glass factories began shuttering in the 50's. $hipping via Ground Advantage, same/next day, combined via "calculation" by eBay with other of my listings. Sincere thanks for visiting :-)Mark
