Amusement Park Airplane Ride - Price Reduced !!!

Description: Listing is for a HO (1/87th) scale, handmade, carnival/amusement park airplane ride. This unique ride was kitbashed from a Bachmann octopus ride. It consists of eight (8) different types of airplanes by Bruder. All are molded in colorful plastic and have had Preiser figures added. A ticket booth with a vendor and customers by Preiser is also attached. Originally, the Bachmann ride had a raised platform to accommodate their gear mechanism but those gears were warped which made them unusable. Instead, beveled gears from Plastruct have been used. Power is supplied by a 12volt DC Hankscraft motor mounted below the ride. To accommodate the gears and motor, the raised platform has been replaced with a piece of 9½” diameter flat plastic. It has been painted to simulate a runway with the planes taking off and landing as shown in the video. While the flat plastic base allows for a more realistic ground level ride, a 5” diameter hole in a layout’s decking/baseboard is required so the motor and gears will be below the surface. The Hankscraft motor is supposed to rotate at 4 rpm when powered at 12v but actual rotation may vary based on the power source. Video shows rotation when attached to a 120vAC to 12vDC adapter but rotation will be slower if attached to a 9vDC battery. Wiring the motor to a transformer with output greater than 12vDC is possible but would require adding resistor(s). (I am not an electrician but am aware that the size of a resistor varies depending on the voltage output. Buyer would need to determine or consult an electronic store for assistance to correct resistor size.) Ride will be carefully packed and shipped ready to be installed but please note that the listing is only for the ride as shown. Additional wiring, control switch, battery holder or transformer must be provided by the buyer. Athearn discontinued manufacturing them in 2009, so they are becoming scarce and hard to find. With Athearn’s purchase of Model Die Casting, Inc., the MDC/Roundhouse kits have also been discontinued and are no longer available.
