Description: This is a set of four textbooks related to grammar and spelling. THE AMERICAN PRECEPTOR IMPROVED Being a New Selection of Lessons For Reading and Speaking (1836) was by Caleb Bingham. This book is in rough shape. All pages are yellowed but present. THE CHILD'S GRAMMAR: First Lessons in Language published by John P Morton and Company and written by EM Murch in 1874. The back cover of the book is missing as are some of the pages at the end of the book. But pages 1-298 are present. There are some delightful illustrations in this book. THE NATIONAL ELEMENTARY SPELLER: A Critical Work on Pronunciation by J Madison Watson was published by AS Barnes & Burr in 1862. This book has a homemade cloth book cover on it but the binding in intact as are all of the pages. THE NEW McCALL SPELLER by William McCall and J David Houser published by Laidlaw Brothers in 1931 is a third grade spelling book. It is only 50 pages. The pages are yellowed but the binding and cover are in good shape.
