Description: Premium Aluminum Oxide - 100 grit - 50 lbs - Blasting Cabinet Abrasive Media. Condition is New. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Our aluminum oxide (EconoblastTM) is a special blend of white, pink, and brown aluminum oxides, as well as other abrasives that makes for a tougher and more economic choice in many applications. It performs as well as, if not better than, white aluminum oxide in most cases. It is a very environmentally-friendly product that is made from recycled grinding wheels otherwise destined for the landfill. Uses Removal of rust, scale, sand, or paint from fabricated components Producing surface profile for an increase of surface area prior to coating (increasing bond strength) Roughening of industrial gas turbine engine component surfaces in preparation for thermal spray coating Removal of burrs or edge profiling machined components Etching, or producing a matte cosmetic surface finish on consumer products Removal of mold flash from plastic components Surface texturing of tooling and molds to alter the appearance of molded or stamped products Other Applications: Grinding Wheel Manufacture, Non-Slip & Abrasion Resistant Aggregate/Grit/Media, Polishing Pastes & Compound Manufacture, Vibratory Mass Finishing Additive, Chemical Resistant and High Temperature Applications SAME DAY SHIPPING on all orders placed before 1:00 Central Time! Significant SAVINGS by ordering larger quantities SAVE by combining grit sizes (up to 25 lbs. per box), List sizes and request total We offer our white aluminum oxide in three different package sizes: 4 lbs., 25 lbs., and 50 lbs. Our 50 lbs. package is shipped in two 25-pound boxes and the others come in a single box. We are able to size to any grit and offer grit sizes 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 180, 220. These grit sizes conform to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B74.12-2001 ANSI Table 2 Allowable Limits for the Sizing of Aluminum Oxide and Silicon Carbide Abrasive Grain for Grinding Wheel Manufacture and General Polishing Purposes. * Photos are of the correct type of abrasive blast media, not necessarily the exact grit size. Aluminum Oxide Synthetic Aluminum Oxide is a silica-free, inert compound with a tough, crystalline structure and a uniform hardness of 9 on the MOHS scale (Diamond is 10). It performs as an excellent blast cabinet media where the grit is contained for re-use, capable of up to 30 or more reuses. These properties combined with uniform particle sizing provide high-speed production with excellent visibility (very low dusting) and lower air requirements. Unlike most other blast media, which are natural or by-products, synthetic Al2O3 has uniform properties without random natural weaknesses, making it the most widely used abrasive in the world. Why Use Aluminum Oxide? Most popular abrasive media for cabinet blasting Most extensive range of grit sizes Good recyclability Precisely graded into specific sizes Usable at lower air pressures, reducing compressed air costs Abrasive Applications Cleaning Deburring Blasting Light Gauge Metal Surface Preparation to Increase Bond Strength of Paint or Coating Etching, Frosting, or Producing a Matte Finish on Metal, Glass, or Stone Water Jetting Media Jobs Requiring a High Production Rate or Non-Ferrous Media Blasting/Cutting Hard Materials Removal of Rust, Paint, Scale, etc. from Fabricated Components Cutting Stone, Metal, Glass, etc. Creating Specific Surface Profile Characteristics Consistent Uniform Properties and Particle Sizes Sharp, Angular Shape 95% Minimum Purity Wide Range of Specific Grit Sizes From Fine Powder to Large, Coarse Aggregate) Reusable (number of uses mainly determined by air pressure) High Hardness of 9 on the Mohs Scale (Diamond is 10) Uniform Particle Size (no chunks, no dust) Usable at Lower Air Pressures, Reducing Compressed Air Costs Fast Production Rate Controlled Consistent Properties No Free-Silica United Abrasive Inc.
