Description: A superb 1/72 model of the Westland Wessex HAS Mk3, XM296 of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm no. 737 Naval Air Squadron, RNAS Portland, 1978Between 1965 and 1968 forty-three of the original Wessex HAS.1 variants were upgraded to Mk.3 specification. Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm No.737 Naval Air Squadron was stationed at RNAS Protland, in Dorset, with where it was assigned to operate from several of the County Class guided missile destroyers. In their shipborne, anti-submarine role, the HAS.3s could carry two homing torpedoes or four depth charges in addition to their dipping sonar. They could also be fitted with a doormounted machine gun. The model is from the Altaya series "Combat Helicopters" & comes with a display stand.Please note: The rotor hubs & blades are supplied separately in the packaging, & need to be fitted by the purchaser. It measures 8" (203mm) in length & has a rotor span of 9" (230mm).It is presented in a vac-form "sandwich" blister pack & is new, mint & sealed.
