Description: Allen Ginsberg Hand Written Letter w/Envelope. August 4th 1961. Tangier Morocco. Autographed Letter Signed(ALS), Single Sheet roughly 8.25 inches by 10.5 inches. Dated August 4, 1961. Handwritten letter to Larry Wallrich of the Phoenix Bookshop, explaining that he has no manuscripts to sell. In part: "All I have available now is final typescript (clean & worthless) & corrected proofs of Empty Mirror if you want that. All other mss. of mine are in trunk in Paterson basement. I'll be away some time I can't get at them, tho I'm broke & could use the money but probably will be broke later too so there's no need now to do anything. For Burroughs or Corso mss. have to write them same address as above it's very confusing. Things are going very rapidly here & new Burroughs work is astounding." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Ginsberg's hand and incorporating his signature, "A. Ginsberg," in the return address area. At the time of writing, Ginsberg was in Tangier, Morocco, with fellow Beat Writers including: William S. Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Peter Orlovsky, and others. **Ginsberg writes from Tangier: "Things are going very rapidly here & new Burroughs work is astounding" The work he's speaking I would guess would be the Nova Trilogy and because The Soft Machine was published in 1961 and this letter was written in August 1961, he is then most likely speaking of "The Ticket That Exploded" which was published the following year. In a nutshell, this letter was written and is discussing a major time if "The Beats". They were all in their prime. Condition. Good Plus/Very Good Minus. Handling wear and light creasing as seen with regular handling wear. The top right corner shows a little extra creasing. Light tanning to page and envelope. Overall decent condition The fast that this still exists is amazing. Please see photos for complete condition. Check out my page for more Beat Generation Literature, Art and More.
