Description: Alfred Louis Brunet-Debaines (1845-1939), etching; after painting by Karl Heffner (1849-1925); publ. P&D Colnaghi, London, 1888. Untitled (likely a British scene done whilst Heffner was actively exhibiting at the Royal Academy during that time); sheet 24 x 28 3/4", plate 26 1.2 x 20 3/4". Pencil signed by Heffner LL, and Brunet Debaines LR; also signed in plate by Heffner LR and initialed "B D" LL. "V S" Print Sellers Association blind stamp LL, next to Heffner's signature. Excellent condition, some slight wrinkling at top margin beyond plate mark, likely never framed. A collector or gallery mark on back. (see pic). Brunet-Debaines, who studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Jacquemart, was brought over to London by Philip Hamerton to contribute to his publications "Portfolio" and "Etchings and Etchers" (he also contributed his work to the influential "Art Journal"). He was a regular exhibitor at the RA from 1872-86 and became a member of the Royal Society of Painters, Etchers, and Engravers in 1882. This is a monumental example of Brunet-Debaines mastery of the medium, at a time when Heffner was an extremely popular and sought after artist in the UK (he regularly exhibited at the RA from 1880-89).Please visit my Ebay sites: FINE ART PRINTS - https://www.ebay.com/usr/rufus1226 BOOKS - https://www.ebay.com/usr/judefe16 https://www.ebay.com/usr/judefe-65 https://www.ebay.com/usr/j18-jule RECORDS - https://www.ebay.com/usr/juledefelice_0 STAMPS AND STUFF - https://www.ebay.com/usr/judefe-8
