Ever curious and lively, she had a wealth of knowledge and appreciation for art, music, and current news. Independent, modest, and generous, she loved playing her baby grand piano, from Schubert to Jelly Roll Morton. She was born in Perth Amboy, NJ to parents Dora and Bernard Goldberger, with sister Lucille Glenn. Before moving to Kendall Park in the 70's, she resided in Manhattan with her beloved late husband, artist Albert Sway. Their love and devotion to one another shone brightly for over fifty years. In Manhattan, she worked as right-hand assistant to Dr. Walsh McDermott, Chairman of Dept. of Public Health at Cornell Medical College; she joined him in his move to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation inPrinceton. Irma is survived by her niece, Jenny Glenn, nephew Stephan Sway, his wife Wendy and daughter Angie; niece Rebecca Sway, Albert's sister Ruth Skurow, her daughters Carole Yellin and Marilyn Wilson, and many dear friends.Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.Arrangements are under the direction of the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, Monmouth Junction.
