Description: Method of payment Albert & Nicholas Sons of Paul Rubens - 1927 Antique Color Art Print SUBJECT/TOPIC: "Die beiden Sohne des Kunstlers Albert & Niklas" Albert & Nicholas, the Two Sons of the Artist By Peter Paul Rubens (While the lithograph is in very good condition, the backing page does have a few foxing spots at the top edge.) HISTORICAL INFORMATION: This is a beautiful color lithograph of this painting as a tipped-in color plate mounted on heavy paper. Smaller tipped-in color lithograph; Litho is very nice; backing is a cream shade, not as white as depicted in picture Sir Peter Paul Rubens (June 28, 1577 – May 30, 1640) was a prolific seventeenth-century Flemish Baroque painter, and a proponent of an exuberant Baroque style that emphasized movement, color, and sensuality. He is well-known for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects. In addition to running a large studio in Antwerp which produced paintings popular with nobility and art collectors throughout Europe, Rubens was a classically-educated humanist scholar, art collector, and diplomat who was knighted by both Philip IV, king of Spain, and Charles I, king of England. "Tipped-in" is a phrase used when a paper print has had it's edge spot-glued into the page of a book or folio. Any plates where the photo or illustration has been glued onto a page would be considered to be 'tipped-in'. Many vintage high-quality art books have tipped-in lithographs. This print can be easily matted for a striking piece of art. The colors are rich and jump off the page. CONDITION The lithograph full-dolor print is very good to excellent; mounting board has very minor age faults Please INSPECT PHOTO. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as illustrations to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques: relief printing (woodcut & wood engraving), intaglio printing (steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and planographic printing (lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.). While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty.
