Description: Precision Leica M 6-Bit Encoder from akaralabs.com (we also do a full kit version) Matt Osbourne reviewed our encoder, you can see his thoughts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXYLKZrrwho Watch a short tutorial and introduction here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adtEc0PWJoI Code your non-Leica and vintage Leica lenses so your Leica camera understands which focal length it has mounted to it, and can then record this data in to your photos (EXIF metadata). This will allow you to filter by lens/focal length/aperture in Lightroom and other photo processing software. It will also allow your Leica to apply various lens corrections like barrel distortion, vignetting correction and chromatic aberration for cleaner JPG images and less post processing for RAW files. The encoder clips on to un-encoded lenses and aligns to where the black 6-bit indicators should be, allowing you to accurately use a black sharpie pen or non-reflective black paint to encode your lens. Please watch the short video in this listing to learn how to position and align the encoder for use, or view the more in-depth YouTube video introduction and tutorial on how to use, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adtEc0PWJoI To encode your lens: Work clockwise and fill in the correct gaps with black marker or preferably matt black paint, we recommend using a UNI SUPER INK MARKER PNA-125 marker pen. Or if you prefer to use paint, Revell RAL 9010 white (white isn't strictly necessary but looks more 'complete') and Revell RAL9011 black. Depending on how tightly your lens sits against the camera mount, it may be necessary to re-apply occasionally. Voigtlander lenses generally have a slight recess which protects the paint/pen from being removed over time. The ink/paint can be easily removed from your lens flange using a light solvent and cloth so is completely reversible, you can also experiment with other lens profiles for unique looks. Please see the below table from lavidaleica.com (The original table was posted on Carsten Whimster's site (site no longer active) and with thanks to Sean Reid, Jan Dvorak, Dante Stella and others who had made it possible). Please be aware that you may be charged for import duty/tax by your own country, this is unfortunately out of our control.
