Description: Ai Weiwei, The Artist's Hand, 2017. This is cast urethane resin with electroplated rhodium, incised with Ai's signature on the bottom from the edition of 1000 published by the Public Art Fund in New York. This was only sold on eBay to benefit the exhibition Ai Weiwei: Good Fences Make Good Neighbors. Contained in the original cardboard box with card from the Public Art Fund. The work is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips and comes with original box and card. The work does have some slight spotting on the bottom underneath the piece where the signature is, but it looks to be from the manufacturing process since I remember receiving it like this (the last picture shows the spotting under raking light), also some very slight spotting on the front, but most, if not all have these slight spots which are only visible in certain lighting (see pics). It really does not distract, but I like to mention all things about the works I sell. It really does show beautifully. Also, the inside index finger isn’t mirror polished like the rest of the hand and that is definitely how I received it. After looking at many of these hands, every one of them has this minor detail, maybe the polishing process couldn’t reach that deep, again see pictures and please feel free to ask me any question.
