Made in Germany in 1976 by Hen & Rooster. 1976 A. G. Russell knife commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the United States of America. This is a razor sharp single stainless steel blade knife with a beautiful mirror polish finish - very bold saber ground blade with a strongly cut swedge and a long pull. (Blade does have very, very minor scratches.) Both handle scales are embellished with a stunning rendition of our nations national symbol the American Bald Eagle. The Eagle is depicted clutching the USA shield on the front of the handle and the USA shield and 1776 - 1976 in a furled ribbon on the back of handle was executed by the well known and talented scrimshander, Bill Shotts. In 1976, to commemorate the American Bicentennial, A. G. Russel made 28 knives with 14kt Gold, 1,000 with Sterling Silver, 2,000 with Brass and 3,000 with Stainless Steel handles. It is stamped on one side of the tang ‘A. G. RUSSELL’ ‘SPRINGDALE, ARK.’ and on the other side ‘STAINLESS’‘GERMANY’. Scales are stamped/ hallmarked ‘925’ Beautiful rare collectible.
