The club has a heavy rounded knob with the shaft carved from just one limb of a tree, making it the real deal, and not a later tourist copy. This is a very dangerous weapon, perhaps carried by a fierce warrior! The Knobkerrie formed an important part of the Zulu warrior’s arsenal and given the weight and hardness of the head, could inflict very serious wounds. It has nice wear on the shaft from where it was held and very nice aged patina. The shaft has two intricately woven wire sections that would have helped the user to grip the handle more firmly during battle. There is a hole in the end of the shaft for hanging, possibly from a belt. The only issue I found was one small wire that had come loose and needs to be tucked back into the design. It is 27.5" long, has a 3" knob and a 1" wide shaft handle. This would be an excellent addition to any number of collections; weapons, Boer War period memorabilia, or Zulu artifacts.
