John Strachan (1778-1867) was a notable figure in Upper Canada, an "elite member" of the Family Compact, and the first Anglican Bishop of Toronto. He is best known as a political bishop who held many government positions and promoted education from common schools to helping to found the University of Toronto. A scarce view of early Ontario history, life, and politics. The book is a hardcover, bound in blue cloth with gold embossed title on spine. It was published in 1968 by S.R. Publishers Ltd. of England, with the Johnson Reprint Co. of New York City, and in cooperation with the Toronto Public Library. These publishers are well-known for their high quality reprints of key titles from Canadian history. The book is 226 pages long. The book is a former LIBRARY book, so it has a card pocket in the back, spine sticker, and some stamps inside. But it was from an Institutional library, not a Public library, so it’s in overall very good condition. Clean inside, with no writing, crisp pages & a clean cover, and a tight solid binding.
