Author Biography Teresa Cruz e Silva is a Professor of social history at the University Eduardo Mondale in Maputo, Mozambique. Professor Isabel Maria Casimiro is a Sociologist and lecturer at Centre of African Studies, Eduardo Mundlane University in Maputo, Mozambique. A feminist and activist, her areas of specialisation include women human rights, feminist movements, development and participatory democracy. She has authored a number of publications particularly on women and gender issues in Mozambique and is the Board President of Forum Mulher in Mozambique. The forum is a network of organizations and womens associations, institutions and donors, with about 84 affiliated organizations, created in 1994 in order to coordinate womens activities and other organizations with a common interest in promoting equality, justice and increasing the real power of women in Mozambique.
