Description: All of his issues are rare, but this listing is for the very rarest 10 cent denomination of A. A. Lamb's 70th Illinois Infantry Regiment Civil War sutler tokens. The 5 cent and 25 cent tokens are available on occasion but I can’t find any records of an example of this 10c denomination ever having been sold publicly so until now most sophisticated collectors have lacked the opportunity to acquire this rarest middle denomination to complete their sets. This specimen appears to be made of yellow brass, measures 19mm in diameter and weighs merely 1.28 grams. The obverse reads:GOOD FOR / 10 / CENTS / IN GOODS AT / A.A. LAMB / SUTLER / 70' ILL. REG. And although faint in parts the reverse reads:JOHN STANTON / STAMP / & BRAND / CUTTER. / CINCINNATI. It’s difficult to assign a grade to such pieces so please study the photos to determine condition, it is circulated and patinated but the surfaces are smooth, it’s not a dug piece.
