Description: This sale includes seven HP hard drives, a SAS card, a four port cable, and a cable to plug the card into up to four drives. Using everything supplied here I was able to successfully read all of the drives and overwrite them with 0s on a Linux desktop without the need to install any additional drivers / software. You will of course need to format the drives yourself. NOTE THAT YOU'LL NEED A SECOND CABLE TO RUN ALL SEVEN DRIVES AT ONCE. THESE CABLES SELL ON eBAY FOR LESS THAN $15. NOTE THAT THESE ARE NOT SATA DRIVES WHICH IS WHY THE PCI EXPRESS CARD IS NEEDED. - 2 x 1TB drives "6G DP 7.2K SAS MDL SPARE: 606020-001"- 5 x 300GB drives "6G DP 10K SAS 300GB SPARE: 507284-001"- 1 x IBM M1015 "LSI 9220-8i =(9211-8i) 6Gbps SAS HBA P20 IT Mode ZFS FreeNAS unRAID" - 1 x four port cable "Cablecc SAS Disk Internal 36 Pin Mini SAS SFF-8087 Host to 4 SFF-8482 Target SAS"- 4 x mini Molex to SATA power adapters (untested)- 1 x filler slot for the eighth ProLiant drive bay The drives were pulled from a decomissioned HP ProLiant DL380G7 server and so the little brackets that they come with are designed for that server. I suspect the drives can be removed from the doors but I haven't tried or done any research and don't know how much effort would be required. While the card is useful for reading / writing / testing the drives you would probably want to put them in a real server for long term usage. I read that these drives require around 15 watts each and they seem to spin continuously so if you plan on using them in a desktop at the same time then you'll need a really good PSU. Please do research first to see if your PSU can power the drives. Please only buy if you're familiar with these technologies and you've done some research. For example, there is no way these will ever work with a laptop.
