Description: Offered are these seven vintage "Playbill" programs, all from the 1940. Included are: 1) "The Corn is Green", starring Ethel Barrymore, at the National Theatre during the week of January 20, 1941. The show opened on Nov. 26, 1940 so this is from early in the show's first Broadway run. 2) "Claudia", at the Booth Theatre during the week of April 7, 1941, also during the show's first Broadway run, which opened on Feb. 12, 1941. and 3) "Junior Miss", at the Lyceum Theatre during the week of March 16, 1942, about midway through the show's first Broadway run. 4) "Hellzapoppin", from the week of January 8, 1940. The play, which ran from Sept 1938 through December 1941 was at about the middle of its run and had moved from the 46th St. Theatre to the Winter Garden. There are two photos of stars currently in other shows-a full-page of Carmen Miranda and a smaller photo of Katharine Hepburn, then starring in "The Philadelphia Story". 5) "Charley's Aunt", starring Jose Ferrar, from the week of December 30, 1940, at the Cort Theatre, during its fourth Broadway run. 6) "Lady Windermere's Fan", from the week of November 25, 1946, also at the Cort Theatre, and also during its fourth Broadway run. Among its New York ads is one for the Waldorf, where a young Frank Sinatra was the featured singer (see photo #9). 7) "Blithe Spirit", the Noel Coward play, from the week of April 13, 1942, at the Morosco Theatre during its first Broadway run. The show ran for a total of 657 performances, first at the Morosco, from Nov. 5, 1941 through May 16, 1942, then moving to the Booth Theatre until June 5, 1943. The play starred Clifton Webb and Mildred Natwick among others. The programs are in fair to good condition. Unfortunately, the first three, as well as "Blithe Spirit", have gotten wet at some point in the past, so parts of the pages are wrinkled and some have wear, discoloration, etc., but all of the text is readable except for a few words here and there. The other three are better, with no sign of being wet. I see no torn pages in any of the programs and all the pages are well-attached to the covers. There are creases down the middle where they have been folded and all of the pages have browned. Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
