These are brand new with no core required. Mounting requires an alternator stand or trimmed generator stand. Simple 2-wire installation - the main post wires straight to the POS+ starter and battery. The smaller terminal wires to the charging/alternator light on the dash, then to a keyed-on POS+ source. You must run a non-LED charging/alternator light for these alternators to charge. Check the install wiring guide for more details. Compatible with stock VW Type 1 Beetle fan shrouds.
