He was a political descendant of Alexander the Great, who brought Greek culture to the East. Some historians believe he financed the journey of one of the three wise men who paid tribute to the newborn Jesus Christ. From a numismatic standpoint, this coin type is considered one of the earliest known bilingual minted coins. The obverse legend is written in Greek and Kharosthi script.
