Description: This is a 4D 1/144 scale plastic model kit of a Bell UH-1H Iroquois (nicknamed "Huey") Helicopter. Like most 4D kits, it does not include decals. I am having trouble getting boxed versions of these but I am able to get bagged examples. Note: The rotor head on this model is very clunky designed to make sure the rotors spin. If you do not care about spinning rotors it is very simple to glue the blades onto the shaft and skip using the round barrel like mounting (see last photo of one in progress from my own workshop). Put the rotor head with the shaft upside down and glue the blades to it and let it set. This makes the model look vastly more realistic. The result is worth the effort. Compared to regular aircraft kits they are often composed of solid chunks, which snap together. Despite the fact that “snap togethers” invoke visons of beginner kits that are poorly rendered 4D kits have been becoming increasingly sophisticated. The first ones were often in odd scales and with very heavy panel lines. The latest iterations are in more standard scales whose detail is both fine and rivals that of standard glue kits.Tanks trucks,and other armor are also available in 4D kits. The first ones were VERY crude, used no standard scales, and were squarely aimed at the kid market. The latest ones are very well done although the detail tends to be a bit heavy. Some things to be aware of when it comes to 4D kits:4D aircraft kits have a tendency to use clear parts for odd things such as landing gear. Nothing a decent paint job can not fix.As often as not, stickers rather than traditional decals are provided. For a good finish grab some after market decals.Helicopter rotor heads tend to be a bit clunky and seem to be more concerned with making sure the rotors turn rather than getting the look right. For more advanced modellers, a bit of work can make them look proper.The newest 4D kits fit together very precisely – if you pre-paint sections of a fuselage or wings you need make sure that where the parts are to fit together are left unpainted.
